35th Show (or The Movie Show In Durs 2: Rise of Durs)

Hey Folks,
The 35th episode of the Movie Show broadcasts live tonight Thursday 29th August from 20:00 GMT.

As some of you are no doubt aware, and others may have caught on from the post title, tonight sees the return of the legendary Richard 'Durs' Dursley to the hallowed halls of BSR.

Rich has kindly agreed to fill in for the absent Jimmy D and will no doubt bring a touch of class and intelligence to our usual proceedings. I'm sure he'll have some of his patented reviews (minus the more 'flamboyant' wording) lined up for you all and we'll also be catching up on how his feature debut 'Annette' is progressing.

Obviously no Cult Corner this week as we have The Durs, normal service for the rest of the show, previews, reviews, mind-numbing Banter etc.

Tune in via the play icon under the 'Listen Live' heading on the side bar or head on over to www.bradleystokeradio.org.uk.

You can also join in the event over on facebook (cheers to Rich for setting it up, he's better at promoting us than we are ourselves!).

34th Show (or The Movie Show in Revenge of The Monkey Overlords)

Hey Folks,
the 34th episode of the Movie Show goes out live tonight 22nd August at 20:00 GMT.

Bit of a strange one this, as some of you will be aware we had to cancel last weeks show at the last minute due to Jimmy becoming a father for the umpteenth time and as a result he's taken a bit of paternity leave. So tonight's show will be brought to you by the awesomeness (um...) of the Two Monkeys.

Could go well, could be catastrophic. Tune in to find out.

Tonight's theme is the one we had lined up for last week to tie in with the release of 2 Guns, so Buddy Movies is it.

As per the course we're sure our definition of a what constitutes a Buddy flick is quite different from the norm so expect a few surprise choices.

Victorian Monkeys got another Cult Classic lined up and it's one I've not seen in a very long time and barely remember so I'll be playing Jimmy D's role of the ignorant one this evening.

Lots of releases to catch you up on and a few reviews thrown in as well. Tune in by clicking the play Icon below the Listen Live heading to the left, or alternatively head on over to the new BSR website:
http://www.bradleystokeradio.org.uk/index.html

Hope you all enjoy, should be an amusing one (not for the right reasons of course).

32nd Show (or The Movie Show Rides The High Plains)

Hey Folks,
The Movie Show Episode 32 goes out live tonight Thursday 1st August at 20:00 GMT.

Apologies for the lack of updates lately but as you can no doubt tell from the sudden increase in the frequency of which our show goes out there's been a lot going on behind the scenes.
In regards to the increase in shows we will be going out weekly for the foreseeable future. Double the fun!

Anyways on to the important stuff, tonight's show (after many months of badgering by the Victorian one) will be themed around Westerns. So we''ll have some Good, Bad and Ugly (weird) tunes for y'all (and yes blame Jimmy D for that ridiculous pun).

Reason for this frontier expanding show is to tie in with the release of  'The Lone Ranger' which is due out on the 9th, so we thought we'd cover it tonight as many Cinemas are screening previews of the film on the 5th, but as Fate always likes to give us a good kicking, no cinemas in Bristol are taking part. Typical...

Anyhoo we thought we'd stick with the theme anyway. Gotta keep that Ol' Monkey happy.

As always we'll be unloading our six-shooters of knowledge and keeping you informed of current and upcoming releases as well as reviews of the previously mentioned 'Lone Ranger', also 'Only God Forgives' and 'Red 2'. Cult Corner this week ties in with 'Lone Ranger' and is one hell of a weird flick. Victorian Monkeys got his work cut out for him on this one.

Tune in through the little play button under The BSR Listen Live heading to the left and don't forget to get in touch. Happy listening.

27th Show (or The Movie Show Is One Year Older But Not Any Wiser)

Hey Folks,
Its finally here, our one year anniversary show! How we've managed to reach this milestone is totally beyond our ability to comprehend. Thanks to all of you who have listened in over this incredible journey and hopefully you'll all stick with us as we head into Season 2.

And so the 27th Show goes out live tonight Thursday 6th June at 20:00 GMT.

For the musical theme this evening we've decided to pick some of our favourite tunes from the last years worth of content, so expect some returning classics as well as tracks that most likely no one but us really wanted to hear again (ok that's probably every tune we'll play).

No Cult Corner this week instead we've each chosen an upcoming film that we're excited about and we'll be taking a closer look at those and the folks behind them. Think of it as a preview of our upcoming preview episode, or, um, something...

As always we'll be keeping you informed of current and upcoming releases for the next fortnight in that patented Movie Show style.

Tune in through the 'BSR Listen Live' link to the left and happy listening.

Oh and while I remember, as some of you will already know you can catch up with our previous shows as well as other BSR FM classics over on Mixcloud. I'll be uploading this evenings show tomorrow so will post the relevant links then.

25th Show (or The Movie Show 25: The Wrath Of Durs)

Hey Folks,
The 25th Show goes out live Thursday 9th May 2013 at 20:00 GMT.

In what is a first for the show and hopefully a sign of things to come, we will be featuring a special guest, The Durs himself - Richard Dursley.

For those of you not familiar with the man (and shame on you if you're not), The Durs is a prominent Blogger and Movie reviewer here in Bristol and also the chap behind 'The Danger Zone' Movie/Classic Rock Club nights hosted at the Hatchet Inn.
The Durs has kindly agreed to appear on our humble little show and will be sharing his thoughts on Iron man 3 and Star Trek into Darkness as well as discussing his many projects including his first foray into Feature Film making, the upcoming 'Annette'.

Check out his site here: http://thedurs.com/

As for the rest of the show you might already have guessed but we'll be focusing on Sci-Fi Movies for our musical theme (God's but we're becoming predictable), to tie in with the release of Star Trek.
Expect our usual mix of seemingly random tunes including two, chosen after careful deliberation by our special guest.

Victorian Monkeys got a true Cult Classic lined up this week, one that is still sadly overlooked to this day. Normal service for the rest of the show, info on the latest releases etc.
It's going to be one hell of a packed show so don't miss it (although if you do, don't worry as we'll be uploading the show to 'Mixcloud' on Friday so you can listen whenever you want).
Tune in through the 'Listen Live' link to the left and if you have any questions for The Durs then get in contact either before or during the show.

24th Show (or The Movie Show in Four Colour Glory)

Hey Folks,
The 24th show goes out live tonight Thursday 25th April at 20:00 GMT.

For tonight's show we'll be revisiting a theme we used all the way back in our second broadcast, yep it's comic-book adaption time again (we do love our funny-books). Obviously this is to tie in with the latest release from the juggernaut that is Marvel Films, Iron Man 3.

Expect tunes from returning classics as well as some where you may be surprised to learn that they are adaptions from the printed page.

Victorian Monkeys back from his adventures in the Great North and he'll be looking back at a sadly underrated and oft forgotten little tale about a girl and her man substitute.

As always we'll be keeping you up to date on current and upcoming releases in that singular Movie Show style. Tune in via the 'BSR Listen Live' link to the left and happy listening.

23rd Show (or Yippee Ki-Yay Movie-showers)

Hey Folks,
The 23rd edition of the Movie Show broadcasts live tonight 11th April at 20:00 GMT.

Tonight's musical theme will be based around Siege Movies to tie in with the release of Whitehouse under siege movie 'Olympus Has Fallen' and also the 'Evil Dead' remake/sequel (any film in which a group of people get trapped in a building and stalked by a malevolent force should to our minds be classified as a siege movie).

Victorian Monkey will be looking back at perhaps the greatest of all the siege type cinematic offerings (a very British film I might add) and we will also be bringing you reviews of the previously mentioned 'Olympus Has Fallen' and 'Evil Dead', as well as the just released Tom Cruise flick 'Oblivion' (which if you're a fan of Sci-Fi we highly recommend, it's a stunningly beautiful film).

As always we'll be keeping you up to date with info on the next two weeks worth of new releases while engaging you all (cough) with our singular form of discussion.

Tune in through the 'BSR Listen Live' link over to left and happy listening.

22nd Show (or The Movie Show Plays For Laughs)

Hey Folks,
Schedules a bit different this week as the Studio is having a bit of a refurb on Thursday so we'll instead be going out live tonight Monday 25th March at 20:00 GMT. Never fear though faithful listeners as the show will be rebroadcast in its normal slot on Thursday.

As we were originally due to broadcast in our usual Thursday slot we thought we'd tie into April Fools days and have Comedy Movies as our theme this time, so we might be a bit ahead by going out on Monday but hey we thought we'd stick with it.

We triumphantly return to the world of cheese tonight as the Movies we've drawn tracks from have a large eighties bias (I can hear the cheering already). Jimmy D's a bit ill this week (again! I swear the man has no immune system) so I thought I'd be kind and leave off with the J-pop, although we do have a track lined up from a Japanese feature but its rather more stately than our usual picks.

As always Victorian Monkeys back with another classic, no idea what he's chosen yet but its sure to be a treat, and expect the usual previews, news and informative (ahem!) banter.

Hit the BSR Listen Live link to the left to tune in and we hope you enjoy.

Happy listening.

Twenty First Show (or The Movie Show will Drive You Insane)

Hey Folks,
the 21st show will being going out live tomorrow Thursday 14th March 2013 at 20:00 GMT.

For this weeks show we've decided to venture outside the world of film to draw inspiration for our musical theme. And so we'll be tying into the Geneva Motor Show which is currently running.

Therefore for this show we'll be pulling tunes from movies which heavily feature cars or prominent car-chases. Expect music from classics (Mad Max), not so classic (Days of Thunder) and downright awful (Talladega Nights). Somehow even with the automotive theme I've still managed to sneak a J-pop track in :) (Just hope the other two don't notice until its too late.)

As always usual rules apply for the rest of the show, previews and reviews of upcoming movies etc, and Victorian Monkeys got another all time classic lined up for the awesomeness that is Cult Corner.

Tune in through the BSR Listen Live link to the left and don't forget to get in touch. Happy listening.

Twentieth Show (or The Movie Show Speaks a Different Language)

Hey Folks,
Twentieth show goes out live tomorrow Thursday 28th February 2013 at 20:00 GMT.

Originally for this one we were thinking about an Oscar's special but seeing as we'd be going out four days after the event we thought you'd all probably be a little sick of the whole thing. Plus we'd probably end up whinging through the whole show, I mean it's not as if the Oscar's are exactly relevant anyway, right?

Anyhoo after much deliberation we settled on the idea of celebrating the release of Park Chan-Wook's first english language movie, Stoker.
So the musical theme for this show will be foreign language directors who went on to work in Hollywood. We'll be drawing the tunes from their American body of work as we'd otherwise end up with nothing but canto-pop, j-pop etc. And while I'd enjoy that the other two might string me up...

Victorian Monkey's taking a bit of a side step this week and instead of the Cult Corner tying directly into the chosen theme he's going to take a look back at one of Park Chan-Wook's earlier films to give you all an idea of what the man's about.

Normal rules for the rest of the show, reviews, info on new releases etc. Tune in through the 'listen live' link to the left and we hope you enjoy.

Also don't forget to get in touch either during or after the show.

Nineteenth Show (or Romancing The Movie Show)

Hey Folks,
The Nineteenth show goes out live this evening 14th Feb 2013 at 20:00 GMT.

As you've no doubt deduced Jim has got his way and tonight's show will indeed be a Valentines special. Fear not though faithful listeners as your Movie Show crew's integrity shall remain intact as our views on what constitutes a romantic film might not (oh OK, most probably won't) match those of the more 'normal' folks out there.

Another ridiculously diverse range of tunes are on offer this evening so you'll be able to cuddle up to that special someone and relive the the memories of when music was actually, well, good. (OK, OK, good music and the Movie Show don't necessarily go hand in hand, but the intentions there...really it is!).

Victorian Monkey will be a happy primate tonight as he gets to share his favorite romantic film with you all (much to Jim's disgust, as he's not a fan of said movie, so expect a bit of 'heated discussion' between the two) and it's probably not what you'd expect.

Of course we'll be delving into current and upcoming releases with our always insightful views and criticisms (can't believe I wrote that with a straight face), so tune in through the 'BSR Listen Live' link to the left and happy listening.

And don't forget you can get in touch during the show.

Eighteenth Show (or Snake in the Movie Shows Shadow)

Hey Folks,
First off apologies for my lack of an appearance on last show and also for the complete dearth of blog updates, unfortunately the Monkey had too much research performed on him and as a result has been rather sickly these past few weeks. Anyways I'm sure most of you really aren't interested in the Monkey's well-being and so onto the important stuff; Tonight's show! Broadcasting live Thursday 31st January 2013 at 20:00gmt.

We're a bit premature with this one as tonight's theme is based around Chinese New Year, yep we know that's not happening until 10th Feb but we had to get it in tonight as next show falls dead bang on Valentines day and Jimmy D was distraught at the idea of missing the chance for a Romance based show. So distraught that he's gone and made himself ill, and so Victorian Monkey and myself decided to let him have his wish as theres no more pathetic sight than a sulky Jimmy D.

Therefore musically tonight's show will be based around Chinese/Hong Kong films and films with connections to snakes (what with the upcoming year being The Year of the Snake).
One hell of an eclectic medley of melodies to look forward to, one of our most diverse offerings yet (yeah, yeah stop with the groaning).

We'll be returning to our usual format tonight after taking a break with the last two shows and this of course means the return of Victorian Monkey's Cult Corner. He's got a true classic lined up tonight, perhaps the most deserving of the title from those he's covered so far. One of my favorite movies  and the film which kick-started the whole Heroic Bloodshed genre.
Normal service for the rest of the show, current and upcoming releases, informative (cough) chatter etc.
Tune in through the BSR Listen Live link to the left and don't forget you can contact us anytime during the show to share your thoughts. Enjoy!

Sixteenth Show (or 2013: The Year Of The Movie Show)

Hey Folks,
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a fantastic festive season.

Our first show of the New Year will be going out live Thursday 3rd January 2013 at 20:00 GMT.

For this show we'll be doing a bit of a retrospective and focusing on the best movies of 2012. We've all come up with a list of our top five films of last year, so the tunes for the show will be pulled from them.
Should be a good mix from blockbusters to indie to foreign films and maybe we just might introduce you to a great movie you missed last year.

No cult corner this show as we'll instead be talking a bit about the movies which made our respective lists. Usual service for the rest of the show though, info on current and upcoming releases, news etc.
Tune in through the BSR Listen Live link to the left and enjoy!
